Atlanta-based Georgia-Pacific's plans to potentially acquire some of Grant Forest Products' facilities and has received a green light from the Canadian Competition Bureau.

Following a review of the company's plans to acquire Grant's oriented strand board facilities at Englehart and Earlton, the Competition Bureau found no competitive risk.  This paves the way for the transaction to close in the first half of 2010 following further regulatory and bankruptcy court review and approvals. Georgia-Pacific, which has expressed its intentions to run the Englehart plant at full capacity, employs more than 40,000 people at more than 300 locations in North America, South America and Europe.
