Thunder Bay's Confederation College has cut three of its programs due to a lack of funding from the provincial government.
Community gerontology, arts administration and industrial woodworking techniques will not be available to students in the coming school year despite a two per cent boost to Ontario post-secondary institutions' operating grants.
Confederation College's share of the $72-million increase, announced in the Ontario government's May budget, is $75,000, or less than one per cent. The college had to cut more than $1 million out of its $45-million operating budget for the 2001-02 year; administrative positions and programs were cut.
