Chamber wants a chat with FedNor Tony

The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce has invited Industry Minister Tony Clement to come see them about FedNor.

The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce has invited Industry Minister Tony Clement to come see them about FedNor.

In the latest federal cabinet shuffle, Clement, who has always held the FedNor portfolio, was moved from Health to Industry, which runs the economic development program.

In a letter to Clement, the chamber is concerned over what they call, the "perceived de-emphasis" of FedNor's role by the lack of a specifically-designated minister responsible for FedNor in the recent cabinet appointments.

"We are aware of your comments in the media about FedNor's mandate being incorporated into your new Industry portfolio and about you ensuring that FedNor retains its profile and level of activity as in the past," writes board chairman Brian Gatien and Chamber president/ CEO Debbi Nicholson.
