Bombardier lands huge contract

The first shipment of 139 rail cars purchased by Via Rail from British Rail arrived in Thunder Bay in May for refurbishment at the Bombardier plant. Considered surplus by British Rail, fifteen coaches were delivered by vessel May 23.

The first shipment of 139 rail cars purchased by Via Rail from British Rail arrived in Thunder Bay in May for refurbishment at the Bombardier plant. Considered surplus by British Rail, fifteen coaches were delivered by vessel May 23. The value of the contract is not known, but is speculated to mean more than one million man-hours of employment for the plant.
