The Nipissing area of northeastern Ontario received a huge cash windfall from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
The Municipality of West Nipissing is receiving $1.1 million to extend water, sewer and power to a 12-hectare industrial park near Sturgeon Falls. The funding is earmarked for a rail siding to service the park and turning lanes from the highway. The site will be ready for development by next summer.
The Blue Sky Economic Development Corporation is getting $497,000 to complete a Geographic Information Systems project in partnership with 16 municipalities in the Nipissing and Parry Sound districts.
The project will convert municipal data, such as zoning and mapping information, into digital information.
