A committee has been established for the Ontario Mineral Exploration Technologies (OMET) program to evaluate proposals and make funding recommendations to the OMET board. OMET is a four-year, $8-million program to increase Ontario's attractiveness to mining and mineral exploration companies by investing in projects that will develop new exploration technologies. The expert technical advisory committee (ETAC) has already received numerous innovative research proposals that are under review, says John Gingerich, ETAC chair and director of research and technical innovation with Noranda Mining and Exploration.

"We are confident OMET investments will help foster opportunities to develop some of the exploration technologies and methods that will drive the sector in the years to come," Gingerich says.
