Abitibi-Bowater is receiving a $1.16 million grant to increase efficiencies at its Thunder Bay pulp and paper mill.
The funding will help the company increase the efficiency of its kraft pulping process and reduce its energy demand for steam production. An Oct. 15 Ministry of Natural Resources news release says the efficiencies gained with help the company secure about 350 jobs. The money is coming out of the Forest Sector Prosperity Fund and Loan Guarantee Program.
"Our Thunder Bay pulp and paper facility continues on its journey towards improved competitiveness as a result of this investment," says general manager Doug Murray.
