The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre
will host a Feb. 13 workshop to discuss biomass and biofuels in
Ontario.
Discussion will centre around the
region’s biomass resources, its availability, and costs; technology
options available to leverage these resources and their associated
economics; and the models for deploying the technologies in the Sault
Ste. Marie region.
The workshop will provide valuable
information for local stakeholders of the Ontario/Sault Ste. Marie
forestry sector, the Ontario/Sault Ste. Marie agricultural sector,
regional economic development agencies, forest products companies,
energy companies and project developers.
The full-day workshop
will feature the following guest speakers:
Charles Lucius, vice-president of
international business, energy environment and material sciences of
global business at Battelle;
Kathyayani Mahadevan, market
manager for international markets and energy environment a Battelle;
Joe Maure, forestry innovation
team lead with the business development branch of the Ministry of
Natural Resources;
Federico Berruti, vice-president
of Agri-Therm Inc. and a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship holder;
Dr. Isabel Molina, assistant
professor and research chair of natural products biochemistry at
Algoma University;
Kenneth Jobity, manager of
screening and evaluation and the NextGen Bio-fuels fund.
The event will take place at the Delta
Sault Ste. Marie Waterfront Hotel. Registration is required.
