John Sagman has been appointed senior vice-president and chief operating officer of Prophecy Platinum Corp., the company that owns the precious group metals, copper and nickel Shakespeare project 70 km west of Sudbury.

Sagman has more than 30 years of experience in mining, including the design, development, commissioning and management of open-pit and underground mining projects.

Before joining Prophecy, Sagman served as VP of technical services with Capstone Mining Corp. He previously worked for Vale Inco Ltd. on that company’s Totten Mine, located 30 km east of the Shakespeare deposit, and Xstrata Nickel where he directly managed operations at the Craig, Fraser, Lockerby and Strathcona mines.
