Jim Hrusovsky, chief executive officer at Essar Steel Algoma in Sault Ste. Marie, will resign his position effective Nov. 1. He will also resign as a director of the company.

Kalyan Ghosh, chief commercial officer, will replace him on an interim basis.

“On behalf of Essar Steel Algoma, I would like to thank Jim for his leadership and contributions to the Company,” said Prashant Ruia, Essar Group director and chair of the Essar Steel Algoma board of directors, in a news release. “He improved productivity and production levels and achieved excellent health and safety performance to successfully position Algoma going forward. We wish him every success in his future endeavours.”

Hrusovsky had held the position of CEO since June 2011.
