A Tim Burton exhibit, combined with a screening of his film, Sleepy Hollow, gets underway Oct. 28 at North Bay's Capitol Centre.

North Bay businessman Kevin Hutchison, who organized the event, said original costumes and props from the movie have been assembled from around the globe for the one-day event. All proceeds will go to local charities.

“The collection is the second largest in the world that has been assembled,” he said. “It's pretty amazing to bring these pieces all together from around the world.

“We even worked with Johnny Depp's costumer to get some of their pieces to Northern Ontario.”

Hutchison, a collector who owns some of the pieces that will be on display, said about 40 items have been assembled. These include costumes worn by Johhny Depp, Christina Ricci and Christopher Walken, and a variety of original props. The costumes have been worn during filming and are not replicas or backups.

“These are pieces that have not been seen in the public for many, many years. I know for sure that 50 per cent of the pieces have never been shown to the public. They have never been shown outside of production,” Hutchison said.

The exhibit opens at 2 p.m. and runs until 6 p.m. at the Capitol Centre. The film will run from 7 p.m. until about 9 p.m. The exhibit will open again from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“It's nice to take these pieces that are usually hidden away and show them to folks who otherwise would never see them and raise money for non-profits,” he said. “I'm really excited.”
