With numerous styles, types and price ranges varying wildly between hundreds to thousands of dollars, purchasing golf clubs can be a bewildering experience even for the seasoned golfer.

After offering nearly four decades of nine-hole play, the Eagle Lake Golf Course and Country Club in South River is officially taking its first step towards 18 holes.

Golfers hoping to take a swing at the annual Frog’s Breath Charity Golf Tournament and Social event will have to wait as this year’s has been cancelled.

With nearly $600,000 worth of renovations underway, the clubhouse at the Parry Sound Golf and Country Club may soon seem unfamiliar to returning duffers who complete a long day on the 18-hole course.

It’s springtime again and for thousands of recreation seekers, that means another season of navigating through Greater Sudbury’s vast network of holes and hazards.

As a golfer, golf teacher and coach in Northern Ontario, I am asked all kinds of questions about the golf swing.

Ron Dennis doesn’t fancy himself as the next Pete Dye, but his first swing at designing a golf course proved he possesses all the right instincts. Since its June 2003 opening, Parry Sound’s Seguin Valley Golf and Country Club has drawn rave reviews as one the best new courses in Ontario.

For many people, the golf course is a place to relax and unwind. It’s a place for good times, good friends and, sometimes, even a good score.

Duffers in the Thunder Bay area will have something new to look forward to when the ground finally thaws this year.

New golf courses are springing up all over Ontario, but the number of golfers is remainingn stagnant.
