Syn-gas technology plant subsidized by Queen's Park

EnQuest Power garbage-to-energy Sault Ste. Marie test plant is receiving $50,000 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.

The Fonthill, Ont.-based company has developed a pilot project at the Sault landfill showing municipal waste can be turned into clean energy through a steam reformation unit.

The process chemically breaks down materials under high temperatures in an oxygen-free environment, converting organic material into hydrogen-rich synthetic gas.

EnQuest is working under a provincially-issued Certificate of Approval and is seeking to commercialize their technology and sell it to municipalities looking to reduce their waste streams.
