Great Lakes Graphite has appointed Ted Luczak as general manager for its micronization facility in Matheson.

A professional licensed electrical technician, Luczak worked for several years in various capacities at the Kidd Creek metallurgical facility in Timmins, for Xstrata Copper, and for Falconbridge Ltd.

According to a company release, Luczak has extensive experience installing, testing, operating and maintaining industrial equipment. In addition to journeyman electrician, Luczak has also served as controller, project controller and engineering planner. Luczak also has been certified or received training in areas including health and safety, leadership development, document control, and first aid.

“We are thrilled to have Ted Luczak join our team as general manager,” Great Lakes Graphite CEO Paul Gorman said in the release.

“As a lifelong resident of Northern Ontario, Ted is enthusiastic about coming on board and helping to establish a new business here. Ted brings the right background and a broad set of skills, all of which are vital to initiating our manufacturing capability and fostering a safe, efficient and highly productive work environment.”

The micronization facility is expected to be up and running by July.
