Northern College has completed construction on a new residence at its Haileybury campus.

The four-storey residence features 16 apartment-style units, with a total capacity of 64 residents. Each unit includes a kitchen with eat-in dining area, living room and two bathrooms.

The facility was constructed by Toronto-based Campus Living Centres, which additionally will own and manage the property. The company was named one of the Best Managed Companies by Deloitte for 2014.

“We are delighted with the new Haileybury Campus Residence,” Northern president Fred Gibbons said in a release. “Since opening our Veterinary Sciences Centre, we’ve seen significant growth in the number of students we serve from outside the Temiskaming Shores area. Our new residence will help ensure that all of our students have access to comfortable, affordable and safe accommodations.”

Construction began on the facility, located adjacent to the campus, in September 2014.

The first group of students moved into the residence in early September 2015.
