Among them are Cochrane’s wastewater infrastructure project, which received $700,000 and the town’s strategic plan, which received $25,000.
In Timmins, Testmark Laboratories will receive $39,934 to help operate a microbiological testing laboratory; KFS Logistics will receive $558,500 to build an e-commerce centre and international product distribution network; the NEOnet Cell Project will receive $139,395 to help extend cell service to unserviced areas in Timmins, James Bay, Timiskaming, Cochrane and the Nickel Belt; and Timmins will receive $439,618 to establish a productivity and innovation centre.
Northern Apiaries in Kapuskasing will receive $25,000 to purchase bees, beekeeping and extraction equipment.
The community of Hearst will receive $37,125 to complete a 10-year community economic development plan.
In total, the 20 projects are expected to create 55 new jobs across the North.
