Operations at Weyerhauser's plywood plant in Nipigon are expected to resume in mid-January. In November 2001 the plant was shut down in order to balance supply and demand, and inventory. A revamped marketing strategy and improved market conditions have prompted the start-up of the mill, a company spokesperson says. All of the 150 workers at the multi-ply plant will be recalled.
