FedNor is supplying $200,000 to the Northern Centre for Advanced Technology (NORCAT) to help high-tech businesses improve their productivity and competitiveness.

The money will allow the Sudbury innovation centre to implement its Innovation Acceleration Program, which provides up to $10,000 to clients for support services or direct costs for innovation-related product development.

Supported activities include planning and development, sales and marketing, software and application development, as well as product testing and certification.

“We are excited to partner with the Government of Canada to accelerate business growth, drive job and wealth creation, and commercialize emerging technologies in Northern Ontario,” NORCAT CEO Don Duval said in a release.

“NORCAT has a long history of success working with the private sector, and I look forward to the positive results this project will deliver for our clients as well as the people, businesses and communities we serve.”

The funding is being provided through FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation.
