Women in Mining Northern Ontario will hold its next mentoring event Oct. 15 in Sudbury.

The Northern Ontario chapter of Women in Mining (WIM) is hosting a career-building panel discussion in Sudbury on Oct. 15.

The panel discussion will include speakers Marcel C. Faggioni, president and senior consultant with Integrity Management Consulting Group; Samantha Espley, director of mines and mills, technical services for Vale’s Ontario operations; and Brian Vaillancourt, dean of the school of trades and technology at Collège Boréal. Nicole Tardif, program co-ordinator at the Goodman School of Mines, will moderate.

The panelists will expand upon their knowledge, share their experience, and speak to ways in which women can develop skills and new opportunities.

The event is part of WIM’s mentorship program, ELEVATE, which pairs group-based mentoring with networking relationships, aiding women in building industry awareness to make informed decisions about their careers and options.

Each quarter, industry frontrunners lead involved, educational sessions on issues that are relevant to women in the mining industry, such as employment indicators, understanding and successfully working with others, and building personal internal-external viability.

The panel discussion will take place at the Vale Living with Lakes Centre from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
