Foodland Ontario annually doles out the Ontario Retailer Awards to stores across the province that actively work to raise consumer awareness about the diversity of fruits and vegetables grown in the province.

In Sudbury, the Food Basics store on Notre Dame Avenue earned a Foodland Ontario Award of Excellence for being recognized in two consecutive years, while also earning the Platinum All Seasons Award. The city’s Regent Street location earned a Gold Creative award. Silver Awards of Merit went to the Hanmer and Lasalle Boulevard locations for excellence in promoting Ontario produce in a display.

In Sault Ste. Marie, two Metro locations — Northern Avenue and Churchill Boulevard — also earned the Silver Award of Merit.

Established in 1977, Ontario Foodland is a consumer promotion program of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Its goal is to champion, promote and support the consumption of fresh Ontario produce and processed agricultural foods.
