Sudbury’s BM Metals and the Northern Cancer Foundation are challenging industry to help support cancer research with the fourth annual Scrap Cancer campaign.
The campaign’s goal is to raise money and awareness during the month of October to support the efforts of the Northern Cancer Foundation through the collection of scrap metal from industrial organizations, local businesses and the community. The largest contributor wins the “Scrap Cancer Cup.”
Vale held the title in 2012 and 2011, while Carriere Industrial won the challenge in 2010.
To date, the campaign has raised $120,000. The goal this year is to raise $100,000.
Based in Sudbury, the Northern Cancer Foundation supports cancer research and cancer care programs of the Northeast Cancer Centre at Health Sciences North.
