Sault Ste. Marie’s Community Development Corp. is receiving $900,000 in FedNor funding to provide small business development.

The funds will be used to provide business counselling and access to capital services, as well as support community strategic planning initiatives over a three-year period.

“Community Futures organizations perform an important function by being a catalyst for economic development and growth,” said Sault MP Terry Sheehan in a release.

“Here in Sault Ste. Marie, the Community Development Corporation has a long and rich history of helping diversify and strengthen the economy, one business at a time.”

The funding is being provided through FedNor’s Community Futures Program, which supports projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation.
