Federal government funding will allow the Materials Joining Innovation Centre (MaJIC) in Kirkland Lake expand its services.
FedNor is providing the centre with $383,194 for two initiatives.
Of the total, $351,694 will enable MaJIC to execute applied research initiatives in collaboration with network partners. Specifically, the funding will enable MaJIC to expand beyond its current welding and materials services currently offered to industrial clients.
The remaining funds are helping MaJIC to hire an applied research intern to assist in the development and implementation of MaJIC’s business systems.
“Thanks to the Government of Canada through FedNor, we are now able to invest in sustainable applied research in the welding industry,” Jeff Molyneaux, executive director of MaJIC, said in a news release. “We look forward to helping companies enhance productivity and to developing partnership and opportunities with other research and innovation centres on applied research activities in Northern Ontario.”
