The Municipality of West Nipissing will host the 2016 public works trade show of the Association of Ontario Road Supervisors (AORS) in June.

The event will take place June 1-2 at the West Nipissing Community and Recreation Centre in Sturgeon Falls (west of North Bay).

The two-day event provides an opportunity for public and private sector public works employees to share information and technical developments in materials, services and equipment required to build and maintain municipal roads and core infrastructure projects.

It also allows suppliers of municipal equipment and services to display their products in one area and develop new business relationships.

It annually draws more than 2,500 participants and more than 250 exhibitors, showcasing public works-related products and services. It’s the largest municipal public works trade show in Canada.

West Nipissing Mayor Joanne Savage said the community is privileged to host the trade show, which is expected to bring an infusion of visitor dollars to the small community.

“Visitors and delegates from across the province and beyond will be converging to our beautiful municipality in order to exchange ideas, knowledge, present products and services, all for the betterment of the municipal public works sector,” she said in a release.

The event is taking place in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the Nipissing Road Association.
