ICAMP 2.0 celebrated its official opening in North Bay on April 29.

It’s a $2-million expansion of the Innovation Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Production (ICAMP) located at Canadore College, where companies can develop and test new technologies.

Since 2013, ICAMP has helped more than 200 companies with 166 projects, and that industry demand drove the new expansion.

“Canadore is proud to be bringing more resources to our region to fuel even greater levels of innovation,” George Burton, college president and CEO, said in a release.

“ICAMP is a hub where entrepreneurs and industry is matched to technology and expertise through applied research and enthusiasm,” he added. “We are grateful for the support we’ve received from government and industry, and we’re happy to have the trust of our partners and community as we work together to build a stronger northern Ontario through innovation.”

New equipment purchased as part of the expansion includes a 3D metal printer; a small-parts assembly robot; design simulation software; advanced visualization, productivity and project management tools; and other equipment.
