The City of North Bay’s Economic Development Department was honoured for marketing prowess at the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) annual conference in Hamilton, Feb. 12.

North Bay was recognized in the Technology and New Media category for its airport, lifestyle and industrial videos.

It’s the second such award for the department which was recognized for the video series by the federal Economic Developer’s Association of Canada Awards last fall.

“It is wonderful that North Bay has been recognized both provincially and nationally for this project. I’m pleased that we continue to find new and creative ways to share North Bay’s business friendly message and showcase our beautiful City.” said Mayor Al McDonald in a news release.

The department worked with local videographer Patrick Gilbert Productions and TWG Communications to create a series of videos showcasing North Bay and promote its assets, particularly Jack Garland Airport (YYB.ca).

“We are extremely pleased to have been chosen by EDCO for this award,” said Erin Richmond, economic development department manager. “It is a pleasure to work with such amazing local talent to promote the community.” The videos can be viewed online at cityofnorthbay.ca

The Atikokan Economic Development Corporation was recognized in the Regional and Cross-Border Collaboration category for its participation in the Heart of the Continent Geotourism Project, a tourism initiative involving a coalition of cross-border organizations promoting places to eat, visit and stay.
