Tools for Resilience is the theme of the third annual Agricultural and Food Symposium being hosted by the Rural Agri-Innovation Network (RAIN) in Bruce Mines next week.

The Sault-based organization will host the event Feb. 5 and 6 at the Bruce Station Hall.

This year’s symposium, sponsored by Scotiabank, BDO and the Agricultural Management Institute features a lineup of industry experts covering topics on farm succession and new technologies.

“We’re excited to have Len Davies, a farm financial adviser of Davies Legacy Planning Group, speak about his team-based approach to farm succession planning,” said David Thompson, RAIN’s research project co-ordinator, in a release.

Davies is a strong promoter of continual learning and has taught thousands of farmers about on-farm financial and family business issues.

Other topics include farm budgeting, tax changes for 2016, Michigan research trials on malted barley, extending the growing season, and research opportunities.
