The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is holding province-wide engagement sessions on intercommunity bus modernization in taking feedback from business, communities and residents on how to improve this transportation option.

Engagement consultations will take place during July and August in the following Northern communities:

Kenora: July 19th, 2016 1:00pm, Clarion Inn, Rosewood Terrace.

Thunder Bay: July 21st, 2016 9:00am, Italian Cultural Centre, Galileo Room.

North Bay: July 26th, 2016 1:00pm, Nipissing University, 100 College Drive, Small Cafeteria.

Sudbury: July 28th, 2016 9:00am, United Steelworker’s Hall & Conference Centre, Second Hall.

Sault Ste. Marie: August 3rd, 2016 9:00am, John Rhodes Community Centre, Meeting Room 2.

Timmins: August 4th, 2016 9:00am, Ramada Timmins, Salon A.

The feedback will be folded into the ministry’s multi-modal transportation strategy for the North.

Since 2011, the MTO has been studying how people and freight move across the region and have been regularly meeting with regional stakeholders to gather their feedback on how to plan and improve transportation infrastructure over the next 25 years.

The final report, original estimated to be presented to the premier and cabinet next January, won’t be finished until the fall of 2017.

The strategy is tied to the government’s Growth Plan for Northern Ontario. Once presented, it will provide short, medium and long-term solutions to improve the region’s transportation systems for road, rail, marine, air and other modes.
