Nominees sought for Manning Awards

The Ernest C. Manning Awards Foundation is now accepting submissions for its annual awards program, which has celebrated the best of innovation across Canada for more than 30 years.

The Ernest C. Manning Awards Foundation is now accepting submissions for its annual awards program, which has celebrated the best of innovation across Canada for more than 30 years.

The Manning Innovation Awards distribute more than $165,000 per year, among four different award categories: Principal Award - $100,000; David E. Mitchell Award – $25,000; Innovation Awards – two awards worth $10,000 each; and Youth Innovation Award – four awards worth $4,000 each.
In 2014, a trio of Northern Ontario innovations was nominated for the awards: Symboticware of Sudbury, which standardized information-based technology that enhances the productivity of mobile mining equipment and mining processes; Dura 21, also of Sudbury, a technology company with patented processes and parts designed to extend the lifecycle and increase the performance of wear parts; and Tap Track, of Sault Ste. Marie, which makes a low-cost wireless vacuum monitoring system for the maple syrup industry.

The deadline for submissions is Dec. 1, 2014.
