A Gravenhurst company specializing in natural granite products for commercial and residential use has received $600,000 from FedNor.

The money will be used to upgrade and modify Muskoka Rock Company’s manufacturing facility, as well as install state-of-the-art equipment to create an automated production line and inventory system. The changes are expected to help the company expand into new markets and create jobs in Muskoka.

“Thanks to FedNor and the Government of Canada, we are transforming our operation, making it more efficient and cost-effective, which will enable us to produce affordable natural stone in any dimension to meet the growing demand in our expanding markets,” Kirby Hall, owner of Muskoka Rock Company, said in a statement.

The funding comes from FedNor’s Targeted Manufacturing Initiative for Northern Ontario, which helps companies to assess the need for productivity improvements and modernize their operations.
