Teck starting exploration on Timmins property

Teck Resources Inc. has started exploration work on Explor Resources ’ Timmins Porcupine West property. Teck has the option of earning up to a 70 per cent interest on the property from Explor.

Teck Resources Inc. has started exploration work on Explor Resources’ Timmins Porcupine West property. Teck has the option of earning up to a 70 per cent interest on the property from Explor.

Teck is currently conducting short-wave infrared instrument scan (TerraSpec) analyses on existing core to assist in mapping of alteration patterns and vectors to assist with diamond drillhole targeting.

Once the characterization of the deposit is completed, drill targets will be selected.

The Timmins Porcupine West gold property consists of 185 unpatented mining units and three patented claims located in the Bristol and Ogden Townships in the Timmins-Porcupine Mining Camp for a total 3,200 hectares. The property is contiguous with Lakeshore Gold’s West Timmins Mine, and has been explored since 1927.

The 2013 NI 43-101 resource report for the property includes open pit resources of 213,000 ounces of gold in 4,283,000 tonnes ore at 1.55 g/t gold in the indicated category, and 77,000 ounces of gold in 1,140,000 tonnes ore at 2.09 g/t gold. Cutoff is 0.30 g/t gold.

The underground mineral resource includes 396,000 ounces of gold in 4,420,000 tonnes ore at 2.79 g/t gold in the indicated category, and 393,000 ounces gold in 5,185,000 tonnes ore at 2.36 g/t gold.
