A winter drilling program at Red Lake by Pure Gold Mining has yielded some high-grade results.

The Vancouver junior miner announced March 16 that it has intersected high-grade gold mineralization from its Beta Target, a second geologic structure being explored at its Madsen Gold project.

The company is carrying out a 5,000-metre winter drilling program to explore prospective geologic structures in the Russet South and Fork Zone areas, with the goal of discovering new zones of near-surface, high-grade gold mineralization.

The results taken from its Russet South drill program are highlighted by 39.1 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 2.9 metres, including 52.4 g/t gold over 0.7 metres from one hole and 37.5 g/t gold over 1.7 metres, including 83.8 g/t gold over 0.7 metres, from another hole.

The company said the drill intercepts occur approximately 10 to 35 metres below surface. To date, Pure Gold has performed 1,755 metres of diamond drilling at Russet South, testing multiple zones identified in 2014.

The Madsen property hosts two past-producing mines, which once produced 2.4 million ounces of gold, and existing mine infrastructure including a headframe, a mill, tailings facility, a 1,275-metre deep shaft and 24 levels of underground workings.

The property contains an indicated mineral resource of 928,000 ounces of gold in 3.24 million tonnes grading 8.93g/t and an inferred mineral resource of 297,000 ounces in 0.79 million tonnes grading 11.74 g/t.
