Tamaka Gold has produced new numbers for its gold deposit in northwestern Ontario.

The Toronto-based junior is evaluating its Goldlund Project as a potential open pit mine.

The new estimate is 1,274,000 measured and indicated ounces at 1.97 grams per tonne and 2,760,000 inferred ounces at 2.12 grams per tonne.

The property is located between Dryden and Sioux Lookout, adjacent to Highway 72.

In a Jan. 22 release, company president Howard Katz said ongoing drilling expanded the resource and boosted the overall grades to the point where it’s a “viable project even in the most bearish gold environment.”

Metallurgical testing revealed recoveries of 92 per cent or better with overall good metrics to be a low cost gold producer.

“We anticipate another productive year in 2015 including the initiation of a PEA and the potential to drill additional priority targets at Goldlund,” said Katz. “The deposit remains open along strike and at depth. Other gold zones have been identified as potential starter pits.”
