Collège Boréal in Sudbury has a new president.
Daniel Giroux will become the French post-secondary school’s fifth president on Sept. 1. He replaces Pierre Riopel, who held the position for three years, and announced he would be stepping down from the role this past January.
“I am honoured and thrilled to be named Collège Boréal’s fifth president,” Giroux said in a release.
“The greatest asset of this institution is, without a doubt, its dynamic and passionate staff members who are dedicated to the delivery of high-quality programs and services.
“I look forward to working with them and Boréal students, as wells as various partners and communities across Ontario to ensure that Collège Boréal remains the college of choice.”
A chartered professional accountant, Giroux holds a Master’s degree in business administration and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University. He is a winner of a Sudbury 40 Under Forty Award, and has been recognized as one of Greater Sudbury’s movers and shakers by Sudbury Living Magazine (40 Under Forty and Sudbury Living Magazine are initiatives of Northern Ontario Business’ parent company, Laurentian Publishing).
Giroux, currently the college’s vice-president of workforce and business development, has close to 20 years of experience holding various high-level positions at the college, including vice-president of academic affairs and dean of the school of trades and applied technology. He has additionally volunteered his time on a number of boards.
