Confed College pockets $3M for new facilities

Confederation College’s Sioux Lookout satellite campus is receiving $1 million from the province to help build a new facility within the northwestern Ontario town’s high school.

Confederation College’s Sioux Lookout satellite campus is receiving $1 million from the province to help build a new facility within the northwestern Ontario town’s high school.

The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board partnering with the Thunder Bay college on a new facility that will see the two institutions share lab and shop space within the new Sioux Lookout High School.

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund announced April 28 it will be contributing toward that construction project.

A news release said partnering up new modern facilities is good for the college’s enrolment numbers and brings with it new programming in hospitality, culinary arts, environmental sciences and applied health sciences.

The main Thunder Bay campus is also benefitting with $2 million from Heritage Fund for a Student Wellness Centre containing new athletic facilities, meeting and training space.
