Falconbridge Ltd.'s announcement to develop the Montcalm nickel mine provides an excellent opportunity to build a ring road for truck traffic around Timmins, say city planning officials. Heavy trucks hauling enriched ore to smelters have severely deteriorated some city road surfaces. One suggestion is to work with Falconbridge to complete the perimeter road started years ago to redirect truck traffic off Shirley and Algonquin Boulevard.
