Tembec Industries has acquired a 50 per cent stake in Excel Forest Products Ltd., a sawmill in Opasatika. The sawmill, located about 40 kilometres west of Kapuskasing, employs about 105 people. Operating since 1976, the mill was upgraded in the late 1990s and now has two softwood cutting lines and produces about 85 million board feet of lumber a year. Financial details of the acquisition were not released.
