The Volunteer Centre of the United Way and the city of Sault Ste. Marie recently announced the Mayor's Award winners for 2000.

The award honours a business or organization for its outstanding commitment to the non-profit community.

In the category of more than 100 employees, Soo Mill Buildall received the award. The Volunteer Centre awarded the prize for the under-1000 employees category to the George Wellington Esquire Club.

The awards were presented April 27, 2001 during a volunteer appreciation dinner.
