Provincial cash fueling Timmins-area limo business, industrial park upgrades

By: Northern Ontario Business Staff

The provincial government has shelled out funds for a series of projects through Timmins and Cochrane, including the development of commercial and industrial lots along Highway 11.

In order to prepare for a proposed industrial park, the Town of Cochrane has received $862,500 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC). This will be used to extend water and sewer lines and to install a sewage pumping station to service new retailer and other lots for future businesses.

With a nearly fully occupied 96-unit storage facility, the Timmins-based G&N Self Storage is receiving $97,812 to add 36 more units and a new security system. It will also purchase a skid-steer load and various equipment for improved property maintenance.

The NOHFC also provided $19,600 to First Class Limousine, the city's only established limo service. Delivered through the Young Entrepreneur Program, the funding will be used to purchase furniture, equipment and advertising to assist with the launch of its service.
