Upgrades are being made to the North's telehealth network through a $362,000-contribution from FedNor. The funding enables five northern hospitals to add upgraded equipment at their telemedicine workstations by adding new videoconference systems, telemedicine peripherals, video monitors and routers. The three-year-old NORTH Network provides specialist consultations, continuing education and patient education by means of two-way videoconference to rural and remote areas across Ontario. Currently the network is comprised of sites in Kirkland Lake, Cochrane, Timmins, Sudbury, Chapleau and Toronto.
