Low gold prices and continued efforts to maintain low production costs have resulted in the layoff of 12 administrative and technical management staff at Kinross Gold Corp.'s Hoyle Pond operations near Timmins. The company says they have consolidated other employees to make up for the loss of staff, and the change should have no impact on production capabilities. The operation still employs 290 people.
