Officials with the City of Sault Ste. Marie expressed interest in encouraging Hyundai Motors to establish a plant in the city last year. A promotional package was forwarded to the South Korean auto giant last year with the hope of being short-listed for an automotive assembly plant slated for North America in the next five years. Officials with the city say no decision has been made for short-listing, but monthly contact is maintained with Hyundai officials.
