By: Northern Ontario Business Staff

A new call centre operated by EDS Canada will create 275 new jobs in Sault Ste. Marie.

The customer interaction centre offering roadside assistance to General Motors customers, begins 24-hour operations this fall at the former Golden Mile Valu-Mart grocery store on McNabb Street and Great Northern Road. The inbound call centre represents a $16-million investment in renovating the 35,161-square-foot building. Starting wages begin at $9 an hour, not including bonuses. This is the Sault's fourth call centre including RMH Teleservices International Inc., MKG Communications and NuComm Marketing Inc., providing 1,100 jobs in the city.
