Thunder Bay city council approved funding for the construction of a new $13.6-million bridge connecting McKellar Ave. with Thunder Bay mainland. The 234-metre bridge will cross the Kaministiquia River and provide access to Mission and McKellar islands.The existing Jackknife bridge is deteriorating and will be taken out of service for traffic once the new bridge is completed. The project is scheduled for completion by Oct. 31 2002.
