By: Northern Ontario Business staff

Stuart MacDonald, the founder of travel service website, will be a guest speaker at the Northern Centre for Advanced Technology (NORCAT) on Feb. 13.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in NORCAT’s upper atrium in Sudbury. There is no cost to attend, but guests are asked to register in advance.

MacDonald will appear as part of NORCAT’s Hot Topics series, which engages leading thinkers from around the world to share their insights with the entrepreneurial and innovation community on topics that are relevant now and in the future.

The Feb. 13 event will focus on helping entrepreneurs understand the latest trends in social media and online marketing and what they need to be thinking about to grow their brand awareness and build their markets.

After starting in his basement, MacDonald has gone on to start, mentor, consult with and invest in many early-stage companies. He has a passion for helping other businesses and entrepreneurs to be successful. In addition to early-stage companies, his clients include many of Canada’s largest media organizations, as well as governments and not-for-profit ventures.

In 2005, MacDonald co-founded mesh, Canada’s leading digital conference, which explores how the digital world is impacting how we live and work. He is also currently in his third term as chairman of the CIRA Nominating Committee, which operates the .ca domain space.
