Kirkland Lake to see $32M wastewater investment

By: Northern Ontario Business staff

The provincial and federal governments have teamed up to deliver $32 million in funding to the Town of Kirkland Lake to help build a new wastewater treatment facility.

The money, which covers the majority of the $35.5-million price tag, is being delivered through the Green Infrastructure Fund with both levels of government contributing an equal $16 million.

The design of the facility will be finalized this year, with construction set to begin in 2011. A completion date has been set for 2012.

It will provide improved water quality in the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence Basin, which includes Murdock Creek and the Blanche River.
